The Plastic Wave
is an electronic band formed in summer 2008 in Tehran/Iran. The band started its activity by two young musicians, Saeid Nadjafi (Natch) and Maral. At the beginning the idea for this music came from Natch and his sister, Setareh, when they were playing music together back at home. Natch played the acoustic guitar and Setareh improvised vocal melodies for what he was playing. They thought of starting a music project together and name it "Go Out To Eat" and started recording demos.
Natch and Maral met through N! Gathering, the biggest underground rock concert ever held in Iran. Natch was there as guitarist of the band Dative and Maral was there to be the very first female rock singer on stage in Iran.
They shared some ideas while doing sound check and found a very similar taste of music in themselves. N! Gathering turned to a very big event after arresting more than 200 guests and musicians by police and naming rock music, satanic by Iranian press and governments. All the musicians were held in jail more than two weeks. But it didn't stop them and their desire for music and specially their friendship.
Maral was in Abu Dhabi when Natch talked to her about "Go Out To Eat" and asked her for some help and ideas. Maral decided to go back to her hometown to work more on her music and at the same time Setareh decided to work more on her talent in painting and left "Go Out To Eat" and Natch asked Maral to join the band.
They changed the band's name to "The Plastic Wave". Maral completed what Setareh had started before and wrote lyrics and some additional vocal lines. The editing of their album [RE]action was finished on Autumn 2008.
When the band invited to SXSW 09 music festival, Shayan Amini (Natch's band mate in Dative) joined the band to play the guitar and bass lines on tours...
